Goodbye to Bigger Pockets
Just in case you’re looking for my weekly postings at Bigger Pockets, I thought I should make an announcement that my time there has ended.
I enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of one of the biggest and best real estate websites, and Josh Dorkin was a lot of help. But I did a lot of thinking recently and decided it was time to move on. For one thing, a large number of the people frequenting the site are real estate agents and Realtors, who, understandably, are hostile to my FSBO message. I started to feel like I was opening up a fight with each post.
Anyway, I’m still a fan of BP and all it provides, so if you haven’t seen it, do take a look: here.
Here’s a round-up of some of my recent posts at BP:
International Real Estate and FSBOs
Why You Don’t Need a Realtor (this one really stirred them up)
Short-Term Fix, Long-Term Worry

Jane -
Thank you again for your participation on our BiggerPockets Blog. You shared some helpful posts for our readers, and I’m sorry that you felt like you had to stop due to some comments that were indeed hostile. Your posts got the tough treatment because they are obviously counter to the thoughts of real estate agents, but I believe that they should still be heard. That is why I asked you to get involved with us.
I hope you continue to post your FSBO posts here on your own site. Don’t let the opposition stop you!
Good luck to you.

Jane-
I read some of those comments and had to disagree based on the experience that we are having selling FSBO.
Thanks for all the great articles you have here.
Blessings,

Rentals: Do you mean to say your FSBO experience is going well or poorly? I’d love to hear about it!

Jane,
I read the comments you were talking about on BiggerPockets. That was a shame that the one poster in particular was harsh towards you. I think you have good points about FSBO. I’ve done most of my transactions w/o a broker and have found no problems.

Thanks, Michael. I’d love to hear about your experiences sometime!

I have been fortunate that my deals were with honest, straight forward buyers and sellers. That makes all the difference in the world. I’ve started writing about my experiences on my site chandler-property.com. I also list my properties for potential tenants to view on my site. This is great because it provides an easy way for a tenant to check out the basic features of my properties (price, lease terms, pets, etc) before they call. Are you doing any landlording now?
